Job Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers to understand their business activities, workflows, needs and requirements
  • Determine how GIS technology can help customers achieve their goals and objectives and develop project approaches that utilize traditional and emerging technology solutions
  • Prepare estimates of hours and costs to perform the required services in coordination with the project team
  • Formulate and implement project plans and manage task-based work; develop and implement quality control plans; monitor and communicate progress and risks; and support project close out.
  • Establish and manage expectations of project sponsors, stakeholders, and internal team members
  • Actively support change management and recommend and develop alternate solutions
  • Lead projects that pertain to geographic data development, maintenance, analysis, and custom geospatial applications.
  • Lead projects that require the design, development, integration and implementation of GIS and non-GIS technology solutions, custom software solutions, commercial-off-the-shelf applications, or enhancements to existing software solutions.
  • Utilize GIS to perform complex geospatial analysis and present results in a format that is clear and concise.
  • Mentor junior staff and promote efficient and effective ways to execute GIS tasks
  • Review technical deliverables prior to delivery to customers
  • Perform research and support the evaluation of existing and potential technology solutions
  • Develop training programs, provide user training, and develop technical documentation
  • Effectively present, communicate, and articulate technical information to all levels of the organization, including customers, colleagues, and senior leadership
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the solutions and services that we can provide and maintain awareness of the competitive marketplace
  • Support the development of technical scopes of work and responses to Requests for Proposals
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling and Civil Information Modeling preferred

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, computer science, information technology, engineering, planning, or related field
  • Minimum of seven years of experience implementing GIS and related technologies to solve client needs
  • Minimum of two years of experience overseeing others in the delivery and execution of GIS solutions
  • In-depth knowledge of GIS concepts and analytical techniques, and significant experience with Esri technology
  • Experience implementing and working with enterprise GIS systems
  • Knowledge of geodatabase administration principles and demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise geodatabases
  • Experience using GPS technologies (i.e. Trimble and Leica) and mobile data collection tools
  • Experience preparing and providing presentations in public and project settings
  • Experience writing technical documentation
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment that includes customers, consulting partners, and staff from a broad spectrum of disciplines

Preferred Experience

  • Master's degree in geography, GIS, computer science, information technology, engineering, planning, or related field
  • Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification
  • Certified Associate Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience working with Esri ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS
  • Experience with Geocortex by Latitude Geographics
  • Experience using AutoDesk or Microstation and working with design drawings
  • Experience working with raster data
  • Experience working with Lidar
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling and Civil Information Modeling

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
