DescriptionNavarro & Wright Consulting Engineers, Inc., a rapidly growing consulting engineering firm based in central PA, is now accepting resumes for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to be based in our New Cumberland, PA office.
Major duties and responsibilities:
- Oversee field operations and act as the design lead for multiple, concurrent projects
- Support project managers to complete various assignments including developing brown bag instructional sessions
- Provide final QA/QC for geotechnical calculations, evaluations, and analyses
- Perform site reconnaissance for geotechnical issues and geological information
- Analyze and interpret geological information form sources such as survey data, well logs, boreholes, or aerial photos
- Prepare Scope of Services and manpower estimates for geotechnical projects as requested by private clients, construction firms, government entities, other engineering firms, internal staff, and satellite offices.
- Responsible for client relations on assigned projects and responsible for monitoring work in progress for compliance with schedule, budgets, and technical correctness. Upon completion, provide feedback on successes and instruction, training and assistance in areas opportune to unit personnel.
- Provide quality management review of geotechnical studies or other deliverables produced by other staff prior to release to the client.
- Compose and review Geotechnical Engineering Reports for roadways and structures, as well as Structure Foundation Reports for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and ITS structures, and associated calculations, and Slope Stability studies\reports
- Compose laboratory testing plans and review lab results for soil and rock
- Determine termination criteria and specifications for subsurface investigations
- Review and correct typed logs, boring profiles, and drafted media
- Review Drilling Contractor solicitations and statewide contracts
- Assist in verifying drilling contractor quantities/invoices
- Maintain extensive contact with clients, be responsible to resolve project issues, attend project meetings, and maintain strong client relationships
- Use appropriate public relations when dealing with internal staff, clients, observers, and the general public
- Stay within established schedules and budgets for every project
- Understand and be able navigate and utilize the company and/or department filing system within first week of employment
- Attend company and/or department meetings, as necessary
Requirements- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited college or university required
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in professional engineering services required
- Solid ability to interact well with internal staff, project teams that include other consultants, contractors, and clients required
- Excellent organizational and project management skills required
- Proficiency with geotechnical software (including Lpile, GSTABL, Driven, and GRLWEAP) required
- High dependability, consistence attendance, and adherence to company policies/procedures required
- PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike experience preferred
- PE Licensure in PA required or ability to obtain PA Licensure by reciprocity within 6 months
- Must have Valid PA Driver's License
