Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Global Tailings, Water and Environment (TWE) team. In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary teams in the design of civil engineering works related to mine tailings containment. Supported by intermediate and junior engineers as well as CADD technicians, you will contribute across all phases of projects, from concept through construction. Responsibilities will also include technical reviews, tailings dam inspections, dam safety reviews, and studies related to mine waste facility design and construction.
This role can be based on any of the following locations: Vancouver, BC; Toronto, ON; Calgary, AB; Edmonton, AB.
Your role - Lead and oversee multidisciplinary project teams in the design of tailings storage facilities, including advanced analyses (dynamic, FLAC, liquefaction).
- Collaborate in the development and optimization of tailings containment designs.
- Prepare and review technical studies, geotechnical investigations, design drawings, and specifications related to tailings site selection and development.
- Conduct and contribute to technical reviews, including peer reviews, dam safety reviews, and inspections of tailings and mine waste facilities.
- Participate actively in project meetings, providing geotechnical expertise and guidance.
- Mentor and support the development of junior and intermediate engineers.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals and business development initiatives.
About you - Bachelor’s degree in civil or Geological Engineering; postgraduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent experience) is strongly preferred.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and/or other Canadian provinces.
- 15+ years of relevant experience leading multidisciplinary teams of large- and small-scale projects within Mining and Metals
- Strong technical expertise in tailings dam design and analysis, including:
- Stress-strain modeling (e.g., FLAC or equivalent)
- Dynamic and seismic analysis
- Liquefaction assessment
- Slope stability and seepage analysis
- Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, including geotechnical, hydrology, hydrogeology, and environmental specialists.

Additional informationExpected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $156,400 - $206,000 annually) (Only Applicable to British Columbia and Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
