Seeking an experienced Automotive Electric/Electronic Systems Engineer who aspires to apply their skills to the exciting and critical growth area of automotive functional safety. This engineering role involves on-site projects with customers as well as back office activities with the ANSYS colleagues. The first project will be with a premium US carmaker in the Detroit area with a focus on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and will be the onsite expert in Systems engineering, functional safety processes and safety by design to help develop and kick-off the customer's safety process and get the ANSYS medini tool running, including tailoring and scripting. This role will be a member of a world class functional safety organization that is helping create safe system designs in the ever more complex, connected and autonomous automotive world.
•Understands and further develops the necessary activities to design a safe ADAS system according to ISO 26262.
•Could perform, lead and explain all activities from Hazard Analysis via Functional Safety Concept down to more detailed safety analyses such as FTA or FMEA.
•Finds appropriate technical solutions to cope with all identified safety risks in close collaboration with domain experts and engineers and describes them precisely in verifiable safety requirements.
•Develops requirements specification on vehicle, system and component Level
•Defines, develops, and advises on new architectures and detailed designs for current and emerging automotive systems
•Configuring the medina analyze tool according to the project's requirement and the customer's safety procedure in place.
•Giving hands-on training, creating work examples and supporting pilot projects.
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics or Computer Science
•A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, including safety-critical systems (ideally automotive)
•A minimum of 2 years of Senior Engineer-level work experience in application engineering, customer support, consulting services, or related customer-facing activities
•Knowledge in one or multiple automotive system domains (e.g. steering, powertrain, body/chassis, brake system, ADAS)
•Experience in model-based design techniques like UML/SysML, or others
•Experience in applying tools and technologies for the development, design and analysis (e.g. Testing, HIL/SIL/MIL, FMEA/FTA, ...)
•Automotive functional safety analysis and design experience acc. ISO 26262
•Demonstrated ability to handle complex projects and to communicate effectively with customers
•Advanced degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Embedded System Development or Automotive Systems Engineering a plus
•2 years in a safety related role, preferably as safety engineer, is preferred
•Possesses a sense of urgency, strong organizational and follow up skills
•Experience with ANSYS medini functional safety tool a plus
•Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM Rational Doors a plus
•Must have passion and drive for personal technical excellence and high performance
