Job summary

The Red Hat User Experience Design is looking for a Senior Front-end Developer to join our growing team in Boston, MA. In this role, you will provide front-end development to support the user experience vision of our interaction designers. You'll need to be both creative and motivated, proficient in building web applications, and able to work in a fast-paced, distributed environment. The primary area of expertise for you will be JavaScript and its associated frameworks, however you should also be proficient with building interfaces using HTML and CSS. We’ll expect you to be comfortable collaborating across teams and explaining your ideas and process to other people. You should also know when and how to use data to inform design decisions.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work with UX designers to bring user interface (UI) designs from concept to implementation through rapid prototyping and evaluation of design ideas
  • Work with the development teams to gather information about system APIs and help shape the data that is available for UI consumption
  • Implement UIs with clean and robust HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as needed to support design vision
  • Ensure clean and clear experience for users through implementation of subtle interactions and affordances
  • Work closely with designers during brainstorming, design reviews, and iteration of UI improvement

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a technology-related discipline
  • Experience building web applications using HTML/CSS and JavaScript   
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks like Angular.js
  • Ability to create robust web applications from visual concepts, wireframes, and interactive product design sessions
  • Experience with testing frameworks like Karma, Jasmine, JSUnit
  • Experience with modern CSS frameworks like Bootstrap or Foundation
  • Familiarity with emerging web standards like Web components
  • Familiarity with back-end technologies like Node.js or server-side Java
  • Great communication and collaboration skills, with a great attention to detail
