Summary: Craig Technologies has an opening for a Sr Fluids Engineer at Craig headquarters in Merritt Island, Florida to support the design and development of man-rated space flight systems for NASA’s deep space program. This position is an advanced level design engineering position. Responsibilities will include conceptual thinking, designing and developing plans, processes, procedures, functional and data requirements analysis, complex system analysis and documentation preparation for complex systems. May be required to supervise less experience engineers.
Provides engineering expertise for the design, development, and implementation of Fluids & Propulsion Flight and Ground Support Equipment and Systems at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) for Space & Launch Vehicle processing and preparation for launch. Responsible for leading teams of engineers and CAD designers to develop design products meeting NASA customer requirements. Provides guidance and mentoring for less experienced engineers. Interfaces with NASA customers and Craig prime contractor to manage, execute, and status projects. Develops system, mechanism and component model designs and drawings to satisfy overall requirements. The position requires significant mechanical design and drafting capability. Must have the capability to perform optimize designs for manufacturing, producibility and performance. Develop design improvements that reduce cost and risk and/or improve vehicle performance. Generates engineering drawings as well as assembly and testing requirements. Tasks may involve new designs or modifications to existing designs, oversee and manage applicable design reviews, internal and with NASA customer. The individual is expected to work collaboratively with mechanical engineers as well as representatives from Craig prime contractor and NASA.
Design experience required in one or more of the following areas: Cryogenics (LH2, LO2, CH4, LN2), Pneumatics (GN2, GHe, GO2, Breathing Air), Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Hydraulics, Ground Support Equipment, Propellant Transfer, Umbilical Design.
