As a part of it's engineering capability, Headup Guidance Systems, Portland operates a fixed based, flight deck simulator that can be used to test and demonstrate the Headup Display Systems that it develops. The simulation facility includes a full flight deck, avionics simulation, image generation system and the capability to integrate the HGS LRUs for "hardware in the loop" testing.

The Simulation Lab supports engineering validation and verification, customer familiarization and training, marketing demonstrations as well as product familiarization for our engineering community.

The facility is operated and maintained by a multi-talented and agile team who are able to react and respond to the varied needs of the simulation lab's customers.

We are currently looking to expand the team by adding another experienced simulation/simulator engineer to this skilled, capable and self-motivated group! Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Job Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
  • 10 years experience in the development, maintenance and operation of commercial flight simulators
  • Experience of Level 4-6 FTDs
  • Aircraft/simulator controls & control loading
  • Aircraft avionics systems (FMS, MCP, MCDU, HUD) and their communications protocols (ARINC 429, 818)
  • Programming in C, C++, C# or Python

Additional Desired Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of commercial aircraft flight operations
  • Flight controls and modeling
  • Image generation/processing
  • MMI/GUI design and development
  • Networking and communications (NetVDN)
  • Emerging immersive technologies
