As the newest member of our product team, you will be developing embedded solutions for our suite of Wi-Fi devices. You'll play a key role in making sure our software platform communicates flawlessly with our hardware. Your expertise and innovation for designing and testing firmware on programmable connected devices is what we need on our team. You are a confident professional who enjoys being part of a dedicated team so you certainly wouldn't leave your team hanging – ever! You know how to estimate your work, navigate around potential obstacles, and document with precision for handoff to our manufacturing partners. We are looking to add an enthusiastic and driven engineer to our unique team of highly motivated individuals!

How you'll spend your days

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining firmware for both existing and next-generation connected access control system and locksets with no OS
  • System level development including wireless and Bluetooth low energy protocols, handshake mechanisms and cloud-based software
  • Debugging and testing hardware from prototype to manufacturing release
  • Optimizing battery life and other general performance enhancements
  • Working with our manufacturing partners on updates and changes
  • Testing external device firmware for acceptance
  • Collaborating closely with the software team to develop new features as we evolve

What you'll bring to the table

  • BSEE or BSME and at least 8 years of deep firmware design and development experience
  • Experience designing and testing firmware in programmable connected devices – you've probably worked for a medical device company or high-tech manufacturer
  • Experience programming embedded systems (8-32bit microcontrollers).
  • Highly skilled in battery optimization, Bluetooth Low Energy and 802.11 protocols
  • Guru level skills with C/C++ and other low-level languages and metal development
  • Experience with common communication busses like JTAG, I2C, SPI, UART is required.
  • Comfortable with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi-meters, and circuit schematics.
  • Some experience with Edge devices and IoT apps operating in the cloud a plus
  • Knowledge of security encryption for authentication and data integrity a plus!
  • Excellent ability in troubleshooting and creative problem solving
  • You are comfortable working independently and can tap a span of resources on demand
