Under the direction of the AVP, the Senior Executive Director of Development, National Direct-Response Programs, will play a leading role in forming this vision by originating, developing and role modeling a commitment to key processes and programs that sustain an office-wide focus on collaboration, efficiencies and metrics-based outcomes. By providing strong individual contribution and department management, the SEDOD, will help lead our evolution into a perpetually campaign-ready, donor-centered, leading industry program to support City of Hope’s mission. As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Responsible for conceiving, leading and overseeing the planning, development, coordinating and implementing strategies related to City of Hope digital and direct-response fundraising efforts for programs and areas which include direct mail, digital, email, mobile, online giving, DIY peer to peer fundraising, digital advertising, social media giving, and the /giving section of the City of Hope website, as well as systems that relate to these efforts and other high-profile fundraising campaigns as determined. Incumbent will establish fundraising targets, define channels, establish engagement plans, operations, objectives, strategies and metrics to build high quality and effective programs in fundraising, and proper ecosystems for these efforts.
  • Ensure that input on work-in-progress, completed projects and individual performance is solicited and integrated for all campaign and events staff in the communications department. Collaborates closely with staff from Philanthropy Marketing Communications, Donor Experience, Individual Giving, Digital Marketing, Creative Services, Information Management and ITS to create and maintain fundraising programs and appropriate systems.


Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Experience may substitute for subject area requirements.
  • 7-10 years related experience in event planning and management. Relevant education or related experience in biomedical sciences or health care may be substituted for part of this requirement. Experience in a complex medical or academic development setting encouraged.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing staff.


Preferred Experience:

  • Strategic and operational management of omni-channel direct-response fundraising programs. Strong understanding of the issues, nuances and needs of research, teaching and clinical operations in a complex health sciences research and/or university environment.
