The Environmental Supervisor role is intended to provide oversight and direction to the field environmental specialists and ensure that the environmental design decisions in the field are standardized across all field sites. The Environmental Supervisor will maintain continuous contact with the Construction Manager, and will assist field environmental specialists as required, and will also oversee the applicable issues of any facilities construction in the area.
We are looking to fill this position for opportunities in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and Ontario.
Your Key Responsibilities
Ensure that site specific records of environmental monitoring, including reports on the remedying of environmental infractions which may affect reclamation (i.e. rutting, fuel spills, etc.) are consistent and complete.
Oversee the actions of field personnel should there be an environmentally sensitive encounter on the ROW.
Ensure Project Environmental Standards are being followed for all field environmental issues.
Approve recommendations regarding field revisions to environmental aspects of design and construction plans and procedures.
Liaise with the appropriate regulatory personnel on an ”as required” basis.
Prepare a weekly Project Environmental Inspection & Monitoring Report.
Ensure all conditions of environmental regulation permits are adhered to.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
API 1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector Certification required for all pipeline positions, but not a requirement when working on pumping stations or terminals.
Knowledge in all relevant areas of construction, and understanding of various design and construction methods.
Understand construction principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Ability to effectively discuss project issues with contractor, project team and clients, including ability to resolve conflict situations in relation to environmental aspects.
Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity and innovation.
Ability to lead in a collaborative project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others.
Demonstrated experience leading teams.
Excellent organizational skills and understanding of task assignment and schedule.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Education and Experience
B.Sc. in Biology, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum of 8-10 years of experience. O&G pipeline/facilities/inspection experience preferred.
Position will work in office and field setting. Visits construction sites and works in outside weather conditions.
