Job Description

The Senior Enterprise Architect for Clinical Services and Technologies performs the planning, leadership, facilitation, analysis, evaluation, and design tasks required to ensure Cerner clinics have the solutions and technologies to continue to provide the best health care services for our associates and their families. This position will serve as a liaison from IT that will define a technology strategy that crosses all of Cerner’s on-site clinics and pharmacies. This position will then drive the multi-year execution of that strategy in conjunction with the other enabling IT and clinic teams who implement and manage the technologies. The right candidate will be a thought leader on the technologies in the health care delivery setting and must have the ability to influence business leaders in order to implement the strategy across the organization, and to put into operation the necessary supporting committees, processes, tools, and infrastructure to maintain the architecture.

This position reports into Enterprise Architecture within Cerner Technology Services with a dotted line to the Vice President of the Healthe at Cerner Institute. This role will be expected to work collaboratively across business constituents and the other enterprise architects for their subject matter expertise, ensuring active participation in the decision-making process and formulation of architecture strategy and plans.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • At least 7 years of information technology experience
  • At least 5 years of application architecture, network management and performance management work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years working in a technology capacity
  • 7+ years of experience working in a leadership role in technology within a large dynamic enterprise organization
  • 7+ years of experience in 3 of the following areas; data analytics, network design, domain architecture, systems administration, application development or cloud architecture


  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
  • Willingness to travel as needed (0-20%)
  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
