Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Supplier Quality Engineer opening to join our Clyde Manufacturing organization. For this role you will work with manufacturing operations and Suppliers on containment of non-conforming material and establishing corrective actions, work with Suppliers and other Whirlpool functions to enable the Supplier to create quality plans, implement corrective actions, generate quality metrics, and continually improve quality systems. Also you will support Whirlpool quality and cost projects by attending regular reviews such as productivity reviews and (Customer to Customer) C2C reviews, conducting supplier audits, evaluating (First Parts Approvals) FPA's, and working with other Whirlpool functions to ensure the Supplier meets quality requirements prior to production, identify quality improvement opportunities and drive problem solving with appropriate cross-functional teams, supervise Engineer Technicians and give direction on corrective action, communications with suppliers, and containment/rework implementation.


This job function conducts the production activities of manufacturing organizations to optimize resource use, minimize costs and maintain quality standards. Activities include planning, managing and reviewing production operations to achieve output and quality objectives; monitoring expenditures and forecasting resource inputs; and operating, monitoring and maintaining machines and production equipment.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors or University degree in an Engineering or Technical field, preferably with mechanical or electrical experience. (Non-Engineering degrees will be considered with demonstrated success in a related role)
  • 5+ years related (Engineering) experience
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to other Whirlpool and Supplier operations approximately 20%


Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with formal quality system assessments and part qualifications
  • Statistical background required with hands-on experience in (Quality Assurance) QA/ (Quality Control) QC analysis methods
  • Firsthand knowledge of (Customer to Customer) C2C/ (Advanced Product Quality Planning) APQP, / (Production Part Approval Process) PPAP, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) FMEA, (Measurement System Evaluation) MSE/Mechanical Service Analysis (Sears Field Data)
  • Process Control/SPC and Control Plans
  • Understanding of quality systems
  • (Quality Management Systems) WQMS, (International Standards Organization) ISO/TS16949 and (International Standards Organization) ISO9100 experience desired
  • Understanding of Six Sigma; Ideal candidate will be a certified Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Knowledge of (Total Positioning Alignment) TPA/Lean and the ability to lead improvement activities
  • Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes with the ability to support high-speed assembly operations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required
  • Proven ability to create and lead cross-functional teams to resolve issues and deliver results
  • Dynamic self-starter with the ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams required
  • In-depth computer skills required
