We’re looking for a developer who derives great satisfaction from thinking through user experience problems with code. You also enjoy making iterative improvements to both the products you work on and the processes used to build them.
In this role, you’ll work closely with your teammates to help design, build, and continuously improve experiences that guide our users to become, and remain, subscribers. In addition to streamlining the meter and payment experiences, it may also include guidance to our users to take advantage of news features they may not have otherwise known. Due to the nature of the work, you will gain a broad exposure to the technology and products of the New York Times. Depending on your experience level, there is room for responsibilities to expand to other parts of the tech stack as well as involvement in broader architectural decisions for the team as a whole.
You should enjoy finding creative solutions to technical challenges and appreciate the balance between conviction and flexibility. To be successful, your background should include experience with
ModernHTML and CSS principles and techniques (e.g. responsive layouts, flex-box)
Providing technology solutions that may span many systems and teams
Building testable code that’s easy to comprehend and extend
Closely collaborating with product and design as part of the development process
Contributing code to, and working closely with other teams and codebases
