The mission of the Senior Manager, Electrical/Software Engineering is to oversee the full hardware and software product life cycle of architect, design, code, unit test, verification, validation and maintenance in support of strategic plan.  Manage and lead a group of hardware and software engineers and contractors to achieve efficient and effective product development.  Participate in defining product requirements and specifications, plan and execute projects including budget, schedule and resources.  Interface with Senior Management, provide direction, plan and implementation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Participate in hardware/software development, from concept through commercialization
• Manage creation of product specifications and verification and validation protocols as appropriate 
• Create and present necessary DCN’s and ensure changes are properly documented and validated per CONMED procedures
• Lead effort to improve development process while maintaining compliance to regulations
• Directly manage electrical/software engineering group
• Integrate electrical/software team into strategic product development planning
• Ensure appropriate allocation of tasks to skills of direct reports while providing opportunities for growth
• Take on a project management role for high priority projects. Lead projects from concept through commercialization
• Maintain a creative, team-building, cooperative approach to job performance and seek to bring a constructive, problem-solving orientation to all tasks
• Direct and matrix management to keep multiple, multidimensional projects on track

Qualifications

• 15+ years engineering experience, including 5+ years experience managing an engineering team, preferably in the medical device industry
• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or a related field required, MS or MBA degree preferred
• Understanding of video camera image processing pipeline
• Understanding of design control and all of its phases
• Understanding of the processes used to release products in a medical device environment that includes manufacturing
• Understanding of all current computer-aided tools for hardware and software development, debugging, testing and source control
• Detailed knowledge of programmable logic devices, microcontrollers, DSPs and FPGAs
• Understanding of complex, embedded software development from concept through production release and maintenance testing, verification, validation, and risk management as it relates to medical device development strongly preferred
• Must work and communicate with internal and external customers and effectively lead team to effectively deliver software
• Exceptional organizational skills with reliability and consistency in work performance
• Ability to work with minimal to no supervision
