The Senior (Sr.) Electrical Engineer reports directly to the Plant Manager. The Sr. Electrical Engineer will be responsible for project work and some planned maintenance. The Sr. Electrical Engineer will utilize the CMMS (JDE) system in planning maintenance activities such as entering work orders, ordering parts, scheduling maintenance, and other various electrical maintenance tasks.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain and configure PLC’s system and HMI
  • Work with corporate engineers in capital projects
  • Utilize CMMS (JD Edwards) system in planning maintenance activities: entering work orders, ordering parts, scheduling maintenance
  • Attend weekly planning meetings, assist in planning short and long-term work needs
  • Inspects and reports equipment for needed repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Work with Operations and Electricians in trouble shooting issues
  • Train and develop plant electricians
  • Additional duties as assigned

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Requires a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
  • Must have 5 years of practical experience in an industrial setting performing electrical work
  • Must be able to quickly define problem and apply corrective action
  • Cooperative spirit with hourly union and salaried supervisors to meet desired objectives
  • Schedule and complete maintenance tasks through ongoing coordination with production supervision
  • Labor relations knowledge and experience is critical
  • Extensive computer skills – be able to utilize CMMS to create work orders, look-up and order parts, write requisitions
  • Troubleshooting assistance to hourly electricians
  • Disciplined approach to scheduling equipment maintenance, especially prioritization of work

Knowledge of the following areas:

  • Working knowledge of plant automation and electrical systems
  • Pumps, conveyors and relay logic
  • Working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC -5 and Control Logix PLC’s; Ethernet IP fiber optic and UTP networks
  • Working knowledge of Device net networks; PID controllers
  • Power Distribution – 120/240/480-volt systems, 4160v systems, 34.5kv systems

Special Skills Required:

  • PLC Programming
  • Working knowledge of Wonderware
  • Working knowledge of plant CMMS system (JD Edwards)

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Industrial Electrical and/or PLC training classes highly preferred
  • Supervisory experience is desired
