Job Duties

  • Designs PCB layouts for miniaturized, high reliability, rigid/flex, mixed signal embedded PCBs
  • Masters CAD schematic, layout and component development tools
  • Performs rigorous schematic, layout, and BOM reviews
  • Provides design guidance on PCB manufacturability for fabrication, assembly and test
  • Develops plans and schedules for CAD development
  • Engages vendors and troubleshoots issues with CAD tools
  • Identifies and evaluates CAD tool and feature improvements
  • Trains team on use of CAD tools
  • Optimizes BOMs through component evaluation and alternate sourcing
  • Engages vendors to address component issues and availability
  • Presents CAD outputs and status to cross functional team and management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience in PCB development for embedded systems
  • Extensive experience with advanced miniaturization (blind/buried vias, high density), high reliability, rigid/flex PCB development
  • Experience with Altium Designer (or comparable tool) for manual routing, layer stackups, design rules, component creation, BOM creation, and fabrication & assembly drawing development
  • Working knowledge of PCB electromagnetic physics
  • Experience interfacing with mechanical development team with tight tolerances
  • PCB fabrication and assembly process knowledge & experience
  • Experience with design for test and design for manufacturability of PCB assemblies
  • Experience with component sourcing optimization and alternate part assessment
  • Experience with fabrication, assembly and component vendor engagement
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with component & PCB reliability and qualification testing
  • Experience with Li-ion battery development
  • Experience with RF PCB development
  • Experience developing 3D component models
