Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, responsible for leading the Division EHS function for a complex, fast paced, multi-site manufacturing organization with 12 domestic facilities and one French facility. Provide leadership and advocacy for disciplined EHS programs to ensure the protection of our employees and the environment. As a member of the senior management team, the EHS Director is responsible for ensuring the Company is in legal compliance with Environmental,Health and Safety regulations. He/she will work closely with the Executive Team as well as all members of management to build a productive, proactive and effective EHS environment. Develop programs and initiatives to promote improvements within the Division.
• Lead and manage the organization’s EHS function with direct responsibility for a team of EHS professionals working across the organization as well as dedicated teams within each of the 13 facilities.• Develop and implement programs in partnership with Division and Plant leadership to impact the nearly 6,000 employees within the organization.• Create a world-class safety culture by using behavioral safety methods and continuous improvement to motivate and influence leaders and employees.• Deliver formal and informal communication on key EHS activities to senior level management and offer potential solutions as appropriate.• Secure external resources as appropriate to provide subject matter expertise in support the organization’s EHS function.• Serve as a member of the Corporate EHS Council to partner across all business segments in driving a global EHS strategy.• Monitor, interpret and implement regulatory requirements necessary to comply with federal, state, and local statutes.• Work proactively with Division and Plant leaders on process changes and new process and equipment implementations to address the impact of environmental, health and safety requirements. Ensure EHS personnel are part of the review/approval for material or process changes.• Ensure all Environmental and Safety compliance records are maintained in accordance with corporate specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related discipline.• Minimum of 15 years of leadership experience in the field of Environmental, Health and Safety in a heavy manufacturing environment.• Prior experience achieving measurable and sustainable results in a lean manufacturing environment.• Proven ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization and influence changes that affect manufacturing operations.• Must have the ability to be a working manager and at the same time develop long term strategy and deliver high level briefings at a moment’s notice to company executives.• Strong project management skills to drive the implementation of large scale programs.• Experience managing worker’s compensation in conjunction with EHS initiatives.• Ability to work well with all levels of employees throughout the organization.• Ability to travel up to 50%.• Must be a US Citizen.
