Position Overview:

Retina Region Manager Job Description

The Region Manager, Retina is responsible for leading a region team of 8 Account Managers, Retina (AMR’s) promoting Allergan’s Retina injectable portfolio. The Region Manager will also oversee all aspects of managing the region including sales results and accountability, ensuring all AMR’s needs are addressed regarding training, development, disciplinary issues. They will also be responsible for interviewing and hiring prospective AMR’s, managing region budgets, and developing and maintaining key customer relationships to ensure the overall success of US Retina.

This position is responsible for accomplishing objectives of the region and provide support to US Retina franchise short and long term strategy, tactical execution, promotional initiatives and meeting or exceeding region and business unit goals. The Region Manager will develop and implement improved procedures and practices while establishing, communicating, and pursuing objectives for the region to achieve. They must have the ability to lead and motivate others to attain the individual and collective goals and objectives outlined for the Region. The Region manager will demonstrate leadership in needs-based account selling processes that will deliver a long-term competitive advantage in the region. They must also and provide leadership in KOL promotional programs, key account management and provide leadership to support sales and meet or exceed business goals of the region.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in related field, MBA Preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of Healthcare/Pharmaceutical experience, buy and bill, or device experience is required
  • Minimum five years of successful sales management or equivalent people leadership experience in a buy and bill or device market
  • Knowledge and experience of legal and regulatory requirement related to the Pharmaceutical industries
  • Market Planning/strategy development experience and the ability to execute key strategies
  • Financial/budgetary experience

  • Supervisory/Management experience. Ability to effectively lead team to achieve consistent sales performance in the region
  • Ability to evaluate staff deployment as well as region and territory assignments
  • Ability to monitor field activity to ensure balanced workloads; exercise control over resources, budgets and expenses; oversee business operations including accounts receivable, etc.
  • Superior leadership qualities and superior business acumen
  • Ability to effectively coach and develop others using strong analytical, decision making and results orientation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills to effectively work with many diverse customers and employees
  • Strong problem resolution skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate with many diverse customer audiences, therapeutic decision makers, and other influencers
  • Excellent presentation skills to engage and meet the needs of various audiences

  • Financial/budgetary experience
  • Ability to travel, a minimum of 75%
