As Senior Director of Portfolio Strategy and Operations, a newly-created and high-impact role, you will work closely with leaders across our organization on key strategic initiatives and programs reporting to the VP of Strategy and R&D Operations.
You will play a key role in building and shaping a first-class R&D Strategy and Operations group at Relay Tx as we grow. You will help ensure flawless operation of activities across Research & Development.
You will help define the shape of our portfolio working hand in hand with leaders across Relay Tx.
You will provide intellectual leadership while driving collaboration and alignment across teams to help evolve Relay Tx from a bold start-up to a new type of biotechnology company. We’re not into following the script. Help us write our own.

You will play a critical role in ensuring that R&D activities operate flawlessly. Meaning, you will help to update and refine key processes and governance structures within R&D as we grow and scale the team. You will also help steer Leadership Team agendas and major R&D meetings (including leadership offsites and Advisory Board meetings).
You will be expected to guide portfolio strategy, tracking the shape of the portfolio, and helping design and manage an approach to tracking and ensuring appropriate allocation of resources across programs. This will depend on working cross functionally with leaders in R&D, Project Management, New Product Planning, Finance, and others.

You will be expected to structure complex and ambiguous problems, synthesize findings, develop creative / innovative options, make logically supported recommendations, and facilitate decision-making sessions. This could include helping define a molecular diagnostics strategy or an approach to deploying and evolving our platform to solve challenges in new therapeutic areas.
You are someone who has deep technical knowledge and experience so that you can help guide teams and refine messaging as we communicate progress back to the Executive Leadership Team and Board. You will also help define and manage the R&D corporate goals.
You will support the development of the R&D section of the long-range strategic plan, in close collaboration with the Finance, R&D, BD, and People teams, helping refine assumptions and ensuring the output is appropriate for resolving key strategic questions.
You have extensive (minimum 10 years) experience in Biotech or the Pharmaceutical industry
You have experience (minimum 5 years) in R&D operations, program management, clinical development, and/or research planning
You have a science background, preferably with an advanced degree
You are an open and candid communicator and know how to leverage your strong EQ, organizational savviness, and collaborative nature to lead and develop alignment across teams and organizations
