The person we hire will share our passion for transforming how education is delivered. The Senior Director of Program Management is responsible for driving initiatives and relationships to ensure continued growth of their business.

The ideal candidate will have the rare combination of operational know-how and strategic instinct. We are looking for someone who has a unique blend of experience; someone who will roll up their sleeves and take ownership, who can drive the buy-in on and implementation of strategic initiatives, who has demonstrated success in a leadership role, who has experience in creating and improving processes, who is technically-minded, and who can effectively communicate and be comfortable both in the academic world and in a dynamic fast-growing company. Strong candidates will have a demonstrated record of success working in uncertain environments, having driven strategic priorities with a high level of independence. This is a client-facing role that requires being able to balance multiple projects, priorities, and detail while cultivating a trusted relationship with the university partner and managing a team.

Key Responsibilities will include but aren’t limited to:

  • Drive Growth
    • Identify opportunities for improvement and growth within the programs, with a specific focus on defining the business case for such opportunities and achieving necessary support from all stakeholders
    • Think creatively and drive initiatives from inception to implementation
    • Work collaboratively with 2U departments to launch new initiatives
    • Manage all cross-functional internal operations related to the program(s)
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Effectively manage relationships and projects both within 2U and with the school to ensure overall success of the program
    • Effectively communicate all relevant information to various stakeholders within 2U and with the school
    • Understand complex programs, processes and organizational structures and be able to function effectively within them
  • Process Development and Improvement
    • Think critically and strategically about current processes, systems and relationships and identify possible issues before they become issues
    • Provide leadership-level insight into product and process improvements that can result in better service offered by the company as a whole
  • Project Management
    • Provide strategic guidance on the scope, goals, and deliverables associated with the execution of projects by the team
    • Set and continually manage and communicate project expectations within team
    • Serve as operational consultant to launch of new programs within the overall portfolio
  • Reporting, Budgeting & Revenue/Invoice Reconciliation
    • Manage oversight of budgets and ensure spending within targets, identifying sources of variance and potential remedies or opportunities
    • Provide financial oversight in the development and tracking of program budgets, including but not limited to reconciliation, reporting, and understanding of variances
  • Staff Development
    • Directly manage program management staff and provide direction on their work
    • As necessary, provide leadership across the department in a broader operational capacity related to staff development and implementation of best practices
    • Meet regularly with operations stakeholders across the department to ensure effective flow of information and management of priorities

Things That Should Be In Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degreerequired
  • 8-10 years of experience, with roles in operations or project management
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Strong project management skills essential
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Project, MS Visio, MS Office inclusive of Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
