  • Ability to:

New Product Ideation and Development:

  • Develops new strategic methodology for Ryder to identify and develop new products. Identify potential products, define opportunity and value proposition, assess competitor offerings and alternative product solutions, identify target customer base and needs, assess fit with Ryder’s strategy, product portfolio and technology capabilities
  • Identifies potential new products through various sources including strategic plan, start-up incubators, Customer Advisory Boards and other direct customer feedback, customer market research, business unit operations and sales teams, and competitor product analysis
  • Interact directly with customer/prospect senior leadership to identify and assess new product ideas
  • Develop new approach and criteria for product go/no go evaluation process, and manages new products through this process. Ensure speed to market of new products to maximize opportunity
  • Works with Leadership Team, new Product Strategy & Development organization team members, Product Champions, Marketing, sales and operations teams, and IT to develop and help launch successful new products through the entire organization. New products may include services addressing Ryder’s traditional markets as well as newly identified markets in transportation and logistics
  • Present new product ideas to Ryder’s Leadership Team for green-light to pursue
  • Ensure alignment across organization for new product development and launch. Work closely with the assigned Leadership Team member “Product Champion” in development of each new product

Pricing Strategy & Development:

  • Will develop pricing strategy to maximize returns and adoption of new products considering Ryder costing, customer willingness to pay, and positioning relative to other products available in the market (from both Ryder and other providers)
  • Will lead collection of market pricing data to determine optimal price positioning of Ryder’s new products and monitor/revise over time as products are rolled out and mature
  • Will develop and communicate pricing strategy and structure to Leadership Team members and the sales organization company-wide. Will obtain market feedback from various sources including sales organization regarding customer acceptance of pricing structure and modify over time as appropriate
  • Works with Sales leadership and HR Compensation to develop commission structure for new products

  • Plan staffing requirements, hiring (internal & external), work plan development
  • Employee training and development
  • Employee review and performance appraisals
  • Provide overview and direction on projects
  • Facilitate the flow of work and communication
