Avid is looking for a talented senior leader to lead our infrastructure teams as the Sr. Director of IT Infrastructure, based in Burlington MA company headquarters. This position will take on key responsibilities for developing and maintaining our current expanding IT technical infrastructure organization. Reporting directly to the CIO, the Sr. Director of IT Infrastructure role will create and provide technology leadership in the strategy, planning, architecture, deployment, management and operations of essential IT infrastructure. These projects include: networks, storage, servers, database, cloud computing, data center operations, desktop strategy support, disaster recovery, cyber security, telecommunications, messaging, and vendor management. This role is also responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and security of the internal and external, customer-facing systems.
This role will lead the company’s global technical Infrastructure teams across broad scopes of responsibilities; including programs that have multi-year importance to the success of the company.  The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in:
 

  • Very experienced with and proven track record of developing IT strategies and executing a business and IT aligned plan/roadmap which supports the business strategy
  • Develop and foster critical senior management stakeholder and executive networks and relationships. Presentation skills to CEO and senior executives required
  • Professional leadership throughout company strategic and major company-wide implementations. Ability to develop clear infrastructure strategic direction and priorities
  • Leverage existing strategic partnerships to drive the new tools and offer strategic value through enabling better collaboration and digitalization of the workforce
  • Has led colleagues and teams through challenges to successful resolutions
  • Provides overall IT Infrastructure leadership for the company by defining vision for overall infrastructure, defining infrastructure roadmaps and ensuring appropriate alignment with key stakeholders/providing updates and driving several large key IT transformation initiatives
  • Demonstrates stamina and professional leadership throughout major company-wide or global function-wide implementations or rollouts
  • Professionally leads colleagues through barriers, or competing or differing points of views and priorities through to resolution
  • Prior experience delivering  infrastructure  orchestration automation and DevOps in IT organizations and implementing automation tools for configuration management, orchestration, continuous integration, application performance management, error monitoring, and management, etc.  
  • Driving and executing all security initiatives related to infrastructure. Leads the planning and execution of the infrastructure dependencies for the IT security roadmap. Continuously collaborates with CISO on security assessments, mitigation, vulnerabilities and program delivery
  • Thorough assessment of intangible variables, identifies and evaluates fundamental issues, providing strategy and direction for major functional areas within IT. Requires in-depth knowledge of the IT functional area, business strategies, and the company’s goals

 
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Possesses excellent technical command of:

  • Experience in both Windows and Linux platform administration
  • Knowledge of Internet, security and e-mail protocols, DNS, HTTP, SMTP, IPsec, certificates
  • Storage knowledge: SAN, NAS
  • Proven experience managing teams that have built cloud data centers
  • Experience in leading teams patching updates
  • Thorough understanding of key platform concepts such as performance, redundancy, fail-over, DR, etc.
  • Experience with distributed global infrastructures
  • Develop & implement automation and DevOps program for IT
  • Deliver best-in-class and quality up-time of infrastructure and hosting services while ensuring accountability and ownership of IT services
  • Develop & implementing IT strategies that align with business goals
  • Develop & implement a systems infrastructure and technology refresh plan
  • Develop reports for key IT metrics for continually improving the performance of IT operations
  • Monitor availability and performance of Avid systems and respond to events as required
  • Oversee Disaster Recover and Business Continuity Planning
  • Manage IT vendors, support negotiations and plan hardware and software deployments
  • Interact with senior management and external groups for planning and budgeting purposes

  
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology and MS Information Technology
  • 15 years of experience in managing technical staff overseeing IT Technology administration and management of IT processes and procedures with Bachelor’s Degree. Or 13 years of relevant experience with Masters in Computer Science
  • 7+ years of experience in setting company strategy around IT Infrastructure
  • At least 5+ years prior experience working with AWS or Azure cloud infrastructure. Including implementing IT automation techniques, DevOps practices and infrastructure as code

 
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
 

  • Strong technical troubleshooting and analytical skills to assess and recommend technology and technical solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to present effectively to senior managers including CEO, CTO and executive leadership team.
  • Ability to cross-functionally build and establish productive, collaborative working relationships with local and global business leaders.  Interacts internally and externally with executive level management, requiring negotiation of extremely critical matters
  • Experience working with 3rd party managed service providers
  • Experience partnering with Engineering and IT Managers/Directors to build reliable and sustaining IT services
  • Exceptional organizational, budget and project management skills
  • Prior experience using and/or implementing agile methodologies in IT
