Job Summary: Manages, directs and provides guidance for all aspects of manufacturing engineering activities for the company with deep involvement in cross-functional or departmental engineering initiatives. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in compliance with the organization's policies, procedures and standards.
1 : Sets the vision, strategic plan and ensures execution in all aspects of manufacturing engineering. Potentially other areas of engineering in the future.
2 : Leads, manages and mentors teams of engineers and related personnel.
3 : Recommends new technology and ideas to optimize manufacturing footprint and improve efficiency.
4 : Coordinates and prioritizes initiatives involving Product, Process and Manufacturing Engineers
5 : Supervises and coordinates the activities of the collective Engineering departments.
6 : Provides guidance for manufacturing and industrial engineering in maximizing existing process efficiency as well as the development of new processes.
7 : Supports the product engineering group in the development or improvement of new and existing products.
8 : Provides guidance for product quality in the inspection of received components and monitoring of the manufacturing processes.
9 : Provides support and guidance for maintenance to maximize equipment up time, correct equipment design deficiencies and implement building and equipment improvements.
10 : Coordinates priorities with Corporate engineering functions
11 : Coordinates with all other departments to keep engineering focused on the Company goals.
12 : Prepares budget and schedules for the development of new product lines and manufacturing processes. Maintains system of budget and schedule control for engineering projects.
13 : Recruits, trains, and manages subordinate personnel to ensure a well-qualified and motivated department.
14 : Administers contracts engineering construction, and fabrication vendors, including price negotiation and project oversight.
15 : Assumes other duties as assigned by supervisor.
THE MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:
1 : Supervises and coordinates the activities of the Engineering department.
2 : Maintains the focus of product engineering on the development of products that meet the needs of the market.
3 : Provides resources and guidance to resolve quality, capacity, and efficiency problems.
4 : Oversees the development and implementation of equipment, processes and technology enabling the most efficient utilization of our manufacturing footprint.
1 : Extended time on feet; frequent bending, walking, carrying and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
2 : Manual dexterity and hand to eye coordination for operation of hand /power tools
3 : Light office duties and activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS):
1 : Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred.
2 : Fifteen (15) years experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within multiple areas of engineering (manufacturing, product, applications, etc.)
3 : Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with diverse personalities in a tactful and flexible manner.
4 : Must possess the ability to coordinate multiple driven projects.
5 : Ideally is knowledgeable in all phases of manufacturing relative to the garage door industry, including materials, equipment, and processes. Must posses the initiative and ability to stay aware of and integrate changing technologies.
6 : Has initiative and able to work effectively with little direction and/or few guidelines.
7 : Demonstrates a style of participative management in problem solving, project implementation, and continuous improvement objectives. Offers a service-oriented willingness to function as a technical resource to work teams and location management.
8 : Strong analytic and communication skills. Ability to make meaningful presentations to company management personnel.
Ability to write a concise, informational report.
