Job Description

Working in a fast-paced, multifaceted organization, the Senior Director, Global Brand and Marketing will lead teams of exceptionally talented and passionate people. Reporting to the VP of Corporate Marketing and Brand, this highly visible and strategic position is responsible, working with GEO and Product Marketing leaders, for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of global marketing activities.
Corporate Brand and Marketing is responsible for developing the global marketing and brand narrative as a basis for increasing market share, positioning Varian as the innovative solutions leader and preferred partner for the Oncology Community.We seek an energetic leader who is a creative thinker with a strong track record for generating significant impact through strategic and tactical execution of compelling marketing campaigns. You will partner with GEO teams and direct reports to evolve the brand through design and message development, create compelling content, deliver innovative product launches, build partnership programs, integrate web strategies, and develop and execute digital and print marketing campaigns for B2B and DTC. Essential Responsibilities: Vision, Strategy, and Leadership:
•Be accountable for building strategic and collaborative marketing teams, across global functions, to develop and implement marketing and communication plans to unify and promote Varian’s brand and broaden Varian’s customer base to achieve long-term profitable growth.•Manage Varian’s corporate brand, with responsibility for theinternal and external brandexperience; visual identity; policies, procedures, guidelines and training. Engage with a wide variety of stakeholders to ensure the brand is implemented and adhered to globally.•Provides strategic guidance to the product marketing teams to help ensure successful product launches•Produce innovative new ways to showcase product launches at majortradeshows andevents.•Lead the development and implementation of a marketing strategy to buildpartnership programs for legacy and growth businesses across distinct market segments.•Oversee production of measurably effectivedigital and printcampaigns,working with our advertising agencies (creative, media, and search).•Manage marketing asset creation,publishing and consumption tracking. These assets encompass a broad range of product collateral, white papers, web content, presentations, newsletters,trade show booth assets, and videos, including technical materials for both B2B and D2C.•Track and analyze marketing program results; implement continual improvements based on findings•Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization. Work with the leadership team and staff to recognize and take advantage ofinternal and external marketing opportunities by defining and executing relevant marketing and communication initiatives. •Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning. Mentor and develop your team members using asupportive and collaborative approach.•Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals.•Overseebudgeting andforecasting for the department; conduct quarterlybudgetreviews, achieve targets.

Job Requirements

• Proven industry experience and leadership in managing brand, comprehensive strategic marketing and communications, advertising, web, and content marketing programs to advance an organization’s mission and goals• Experience administering and adhering to departmental budgets• Demonstrated skill at proactively building relationships with top-tier partners• Innovative problem solver, with a track record for translating strategic goals into action plans and output• Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of marketing and communications specialists• Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution• Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers• Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs• Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both the creative activities of a marketing department as well as the strategic and tactical activities, including financial and administrative governance of the department. • Exceptional and persuasive oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively engage with executives and senior management, Varian’s Board of Directors, and other staff
Requirements:18 plusyears of progressiveexperience in Marketing, Marketing Communications, Brand management roles.-BA/BSdegreerequired-Must be a strong and prolific communicator-Demonstrated expertise in corporate positioning and messaging-Excellent leadership and management skills-Ability to interface with all levels of the company-Able to clearly articulate and deliver on program goals, strategy and execution, addressing multiple audiences-Strong collaborative team-oriented approach to management -Excellent verbal and written skills-Global perspective-Proven track record of fostering strong relationships withinternal stakeholders and customers-Passionate about helping to create a World Without Fear of Cancer
