JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Office of Global Programs at the Pennsylvania State University is searching for a Senior Director for Planning and Partnerships. The Senior Director works with the Associate Vice Provost for Global Programs to support planning and analysis related to the University’s global engagement and to coordinate and facilitate Penn State’s strategic partnerships around the world. The Senior Director is responsible for the management- supervision, evaluation and staff development of offices within Global Programs that report to the Associate Vice Provost: Strategic Partnerships (including Partner Relations and the Fulbright Scholar Program), and Planning and Analysis. Planning and Analysis include Strategic Planning and Data Analytics, Global Collaborations (International Agreements), Global Safety (International Risk, Health and Safety Support), and Applications Development (Information Technology).
This position is responsible for ensuring that different offices, with a range of responsibilities, act in a cohesive and coordinated manner. This requires high-level management skills, and the ability to constitute and reconstitute implementation teams as projects evolve, and the ability to develop in-house expertise or source external contributors as the need arises. While this position supervises professional teams within Global Programs, very little of what we do can be successful without support and engagement from other units within and outside the University. Building relationships to enable that to happen is a critical skill. This may include coordinating major projects with unit-wide and university-wide impact in support of the unit's strategic mission. Working with the Associate Vice Provost, this position is also responsible for developing the Unit budget, and for approving and monitoring expenditures.
Global Programs is committed to ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the success of a world-class research institution. We are dedicated to fostering institutional change required to realize a more socially just University and we value inclusion as a core strength and an essential element of our public service mission.
