As a key member of the senior finance team, the Senior Director must demonstrate the following competencies and characteristics:

The successful candidate will be able to lead and thrive in a changing, fast-paced, and often ambiguous environment and possess the ability to apply a strong accounting background to financial systems and data, delivering effective and efficient solutions for stakeholders.
Direction and Oversight1. Serve as the chief steward of the University's financial systems and data; partner with ITS in developing and maintaining system and data governance policies and procedures.2. Provide direction, vision and leadership in the development and implementation of strategies for leveraging the use of technology to support the University's financial activities and operations.3. In partnership with ITS, provide strategic and tactical knowledge in the development of a multi-yearfinancial system and tools (BI) roadmap.4. Develop strategies and methods for identifying, driving and quantifying process and cost efficiencies through automation, process improvement and enhanced decision-making through the accessibility and use of data.Service and Operational Excellence1. Ensure financial systems are operating as intended, remaining available to end users to support their work; respond to unexpected service disruptions with appropriate urgency and judgment. 2. Develop and oversee processes for analyzing business requirements; Identify enterprise solutions through implementation of new and existing information systems.3. Identify, evaluate and select financial systems that enable and streamline internal business processes, support data-driven decision-making, and optimize the end user experience.4. Lead teams to implement enterprise financial systems and BI solutions to achieve their defined goals.Relationship Management1. Build relationships among campus leaders as a trusted advisor and provider of high quality services, and a leader of major initiatives to enhance and continuously improve the University’s financial systems, reporting, and data tools.2. Understand, represent, and prioritize, the needs of finance process owners and system stakeholders in the governance of financial and related systems, working in partnership with colleagues in Finance, ITS, and other and stakeholders across the campus. 3. Build and maintain strong working relationships with software suppliers and product managers to influence product design.Change Leadership1. Identify and interpret the impact of financial system changes on stakeholders and provide strategic and tactical input into the change management plan. 2. Manage relationships between people, processes and technology to ensure the successful implementation of system implementations and upgrades. 3. Contribute to the development and implementation of a campus financial systems and reporting training program.4. Generate financial system strategies and goals through an inclusive and transparent planning process.Talent and Organizational Development1. Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degreerequired and a minimum of 10 years of experience managing financial systems and business intelligence foundations or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Outstanding business process fluency, with a strong ability to discuss processes at a level of detail sufficient to gain insight into the underlying business problem or opportunity. Proven ability and success with financial systems, reporting, BI, data warehousing and general data management, particularly in a distributed access environment.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
MBA strongly preferred. Workday Financials, Lean Six Sigma certification (Green or Black belt), Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP). Proven experience implementing and managing large-scale enterprise financial systems and business intelligence platforms for large, diverse and distributed stakeholder groups. Ability to embrace and successfully manage through change.
