POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Director, Alliance and Program Management is responsible for managing the relationship and governance of one or more corporate partners and leading cross functional program teams, (both internal to Halozyme and cross-company) to further the development and commercialization of partnered products. He/She will act as the primary point of contact with our corporate partners and will serve to coordinate and communicate the partner's needs within Halozyme while ensuring Halozyme executes on agreed upon activities. The Senior Director of Alliance and Program Management is accountable for overall alliance and program performance including development and execution of integrated program plans, liaison with senior management,

identification of resource requirements, monitoring deliverables and timelines, and financial achievement. The individual fulfilling this role is expected to exhibit strong organizational leadership and values while motivating teams and influencing the

future direction of the ENHANZE franchise.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These may include but are not limited to:

Alliance Management (external-facing)


  • Serve as primary point of contact to partner
  • Launch and maintain the alliance to drive clear multi-year plans, collaborative relationships, and identify and manages issues
  • Lead governance of the alliance to drive behavior, set tone, create foundation for how the partners work together
  • Key member of joint alliance governance committees and lead Halozyme internal governance committees for his/her partners
  • Define and execute alliance governance activities including the establishment of alliance goals, metrics and scorecard consistent with the agreed upon plan
  • Facilitate cross-company teams to ensure alignment on clinical and regulatory strategies, supply requirements, etc.
  • Monitor and ensure on time delivery of all contractual financial aspects of alliance with Finance, including progress reports, forecasts, etc.
  • Update multi-year alliance partner business plans annually
  • Identify new business opportunities within existing partners

Program Leadership (internal-facing)


  • Lead development and execution of Halozyme's partner program teams and integrated program plans
  • Ensure timelines and milestones are met per plan
  • Deliver supply requirements per plan
  • Identify resource gaps and lead corrective action
  • Identify program issues and facilitate timely resolution of development challenges
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Support annual reporting and audit management
  • Manage project authorizations and scope of work, track project cost and timelines
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of Halozyme's ENHANZE drug delivery technology
  • Follow the industry, partners and competitive landscape to continually evaluate current and future opportunities within current alliances

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide input to the portfolio prioritization process and participate in other key strategic business decisions, as necessary and requested
  • Communicate timely status reports to key personnel, both internal and external
  • Facilitate inter- and intra-team communications during the execution process
  • Manage direct reports
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in business, pharmaceutical drug development or related; Master's and / or PhD preferred with at least 10+ years of experience (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
  • Proven success in alliance management or managing high level cross functional teams and other external relationships required
  • Experience in 2 of 3 of the following areas: clinical development, product commercialization and program management in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry
  • Must have knowledge of such principles as GMP's, FDA guidelines, etc.
  • Experience influencing teams, both internal and cross-company, in a matrix management environment is essential
  • Recent experience with a smaller entrepreneurial environment is a plus
  • Strong experience in problem solving skills, analytical thinking, and visionary skills
  • Solid understanding of timelines, human resources, and budgets necessary for clinical trials is preferred

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Equipment: PC, scanners, facsimile machine, voice mail and e-mail systems, and common office machines, or ability to be trained. Knowledge of other equipment required: N/A

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:


  • Works collaboratively with other department managers to achieve company goals
  • Works closely with Finance to integrate alliance partnership finances
  • Attends major scientific meetings as required, and builds and maintains relationships with key personnel
