Overview: The Senior Director, AdavncedTechnologies has the responsibility for delivering excellentengineering development program performance.  The Senior Director shall lead AAC’s technological efforts to build a USW strategy.  As such, this position directs the Company’sengineering efforts to insure success in theengineering design, development and prototyping of AACtechnologies.  The Director, AdavncedTechnologies assuresengineering development programs under their cognizance meet establishedscheduleand cost commitments.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical knowledge and analysis of USW specialized development. Lead analysis and optimize system for best performance in selected operational environments, high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation and implementation advice.
  • Provide Exceptional leadership, serve as the technical change agent and innovator leading AAC through transformational change.
  • Provide strategic direction for AAC technolgies as mapped to business capture activities
  • Functions as a key contributor in determining the Company’s competitive posture on current and future businessas related to advanced technologies
  • Accountable for decisions which have a direct affect on the Company’s short and long range financial performance (for the programs / technologies under their cognizance)
  • Drive technical innovation by bringing new technology into the company directly or hiring the appropriate technology competencies
  • Select, train, mentor and motivate the technical engineering resources required to secure new business opportunities, develop IR&D projects, and drive technical advancements that will meet customer requirements and business objectives
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance for engineering programs and projects under their cognizance
  • Provide direction and motivation to engineering staff to assure successful execution of the engineeringresponsibilities as related to new / developing technologies
  • Deliver products and services that meet cost, quality and time expectations by working collaboratively with Program Management, Business Development, and customers
  • Assess/manage employee capabilities and determine staffing needs to meet current and future business needs
  • Provide performance management and developmental opportunities to existing staff as well as recruit new talent in order to meet technical gaps
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization


Secondary Accountabilities:

  • Develop strategic partnerships with colleges, universities and research institutes
  • Develop and implement improved procedures and standards for the department, to ensure that output is high quality, accurate, on time, and within budget, including establishing metrics (key performance indicators) for the technical staff and accountabilities for achieving results
  • Responsible for development, planning, implementation, and meeting key performance objectives for specific engineering projects including the development of technical proposals, budgets and design approaches in support of new business quoting activities, sales force, customer visits, product presentations, representative training, and developing winning strategies
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Requires Masters Degree or higher in Engineering or related engineering discipline. Professional registration highly desired. Requires at least 15years of directly applicable experience in engineering design and development
  • Experience in requirements management and documentation, risk management project planning and technical project management is essential
  • Thorough understanding of government procurement procedures and an in-depth knowledge of military contracts
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Strong business acumen that demonstrates an understanding of business issues and linking solutions to the business strategy and outcomes
  • Hands-on problem solving and superior oral and written communication skills required.Experience directly supporting DOD programs highly desired
  • Experience working in a diverse business environment of interchangeable primes, subcontractors, joint venture partners etc and knowledge of export regulations and ITAR issues
