Kforce has a client in search of a Senior Digital Forensics Engineer in San Diego, CA. Responsibilities:

  • Employ a variety of forensics tools and techniques to investigate complex and diverse securitythreats and policy violations; coordinate appropriate notifications or escalations; gather and handle evidence; recover and examine data from computers and storage devices; rebuild damaged systems to recover data
  • Conduct sophisticated assessments of security vulnerabilities and protocols to ensure the continuing development of security protection technology as it relates to defending and protecting the company and its customers; communicate information to relevant stakeholders in a timely and persuasive manner; collaborate with other IT teams, management, and vendors to address threats and minimize risk
  • Provide digitalforensics expertise to internal and external parties; draft technical reports, assess evidence, and provide testimony in court proceedings; observe appropriate evidence custody and control procedures
  • Review security violation reports and investigate possible policy exceptions; identify additional systems or networks compromised by cyberattacks
  • Provide guidance, direction, and mentoring to Junior Engineers
  • Provide day to day network and system administration and maintenance to digital forensic systems


  • Typically requires a BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related field
  • 5-7 years of experience or equivalent training and/or experience
  • Forensics certification (e.g., EnCase) required
  • Expert understanding of IS-related forensicsinvestigation, including principles, practices, protocols, standards, and tools; able to evaluate practices and technologies based on thorough knowledge of the company and industry
  • Thorough familiarity with regulatory requirements
  • Advanced critical thinking, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive information, perform discreet tasks, dispose of information in a confidential manner, and provide for secure management of data and to advise others on proper procedures
  • Advanced ability to communicate complex technical information to various audiences, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and with teams to ensure that complex issues are handled effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to mentor and guide other team members as needed
  • Ability to maintain forensic network and systems to ensure proper operation
