Basic Purpose

To lead the design, production, and maintenance of marketing, advertising and corporate communications artwork and related collateral in support of Navy Federal products and services with consistent branding strategy that aligns with Navy Federal's strategic goals. Serve as subject matter expert to provide advanced knowledge of design programs, principles, development standards, techniques and methodologies and ability to apply them, ensuring a great user experience and alignment with the organization's overall objectives. Offer guidance to lower level team members. Apply in-depth professional-level knowledge to independently solve a full range of complex problems.


Responsibilities:


• Develop and execute designs layouts and visual branding that support products and services and objectives

• Participate in strategic/conceptual development meetings with clients to determine project requirements, objectives and creative direction

• Work closely with clients as a Trusted Advisor to develop materials that meet/exceed their needs and expectations and comply with branding, trademark and other company and industry standards

• Create video, and web graphics, photography, logos, and illustrations to support marketing initiatives

• Conduct research, conceptualize and develop several strong, persuasive ideas demonstrating how you design to solve customer needs and that address the goals and purpose of the credit union

• Ideate concepts, create initial design sketches, and follow creative direction to produce marketing materials utilizing typography, illustration, animation, video, and layout skills

• Serve as a creative, innovative resource and point of contact for management on design and branding standards, vendor selection and production methods and timelines

• Monitor assigned projects to ensure that goals and objectives are completed according to schedule; collaborate with project teams to ensure all business needs are met

• Maintain consistency of designs, ensure version controls and latest designs are published, maintains content manager and other storage systems

• Incorporate and leverage best industry practices while maintaining alignment with Navy Federal goals and capabilities

• Research emerging technologies, trends, and new methodologies and recommend solutions that align with business goals

• Serve as mentor/trainer and provide guidance and assistance to team members

• Makes recommendations for budgetary consideration in regards to production cost

• Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:


• Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Ability to compile, organize and present information clearly and concisely

• Extensive experience using design programs, creating and print and online collateral

• Expert knowledge of design principles, design development standards, techniques and methodologies and ability to apply them

• Expert knowledge of design fundamentals

• Extensive experience in interactive design, visual design and industry standards

• Extensive experience in applying new programs and technologies to include the latest social media trends

• Extensive experience creating assets for social media platforms

• Extensive video and animation production experience, in addition to print production experience

• Experienced in telling a story through film and photography by applying typography, layout, color

• The ability to think conceptually and visualize strategic decisions

• Expert skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions

• Expert skill exercising professionalism, composure under pressure, and flexibility

• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback, and push designs to next level

• Expert verbal and written communication

• Extensive experience in working and participating in cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects

• Extensive experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals

• Expert research, analytical and problem solving skills

• Advanced organizing, planning and time management skills

• Extensive experience with After Effects, Premiere, Adobe CC programs, Adobe Experience Manager and the like

• Desired – Knowledge of HTML/CSS and Javascript

• Desired – Experience guiding and mentoring others

• Desired – Working knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies and procedures
