Position Summary

Senior System Engineers are responsible for research, architecture, design, installation, integration, support and optimization on a wide variety of technologies as a part of the information technologyinfrastructure and application environment. Designs and implements high performing, highly available systems to meet the customers functional and cost requirements as defined in the service level and/or operation level agreements. Participates and often leads work on new project installations, system/infrastructure upgrades and system/infrastructure performance management. Participates in project leadership by documenting system scope and defining implementation procedures. Documents and drives best practices throughout the system. Solves complex problems, given the limitations of resource, process and technology. Staff members in this position are effective and self-sufficient in working within a diverse technology portfolio, and regularly provide guidance and training to less experienced systems engineers.

Candidate possesses the ability, aptitude and drive to learn. Drive initiatives to completion while balancing and working within internal policies.

This position works within a dedicated engineering team focusing on DevOps, cloud, automation and orchestration. The team’s goal is to deliver all infrastructures as code. Prior experiencerequired with automating system engineering tasks using various scripting tools such as python, Power shell, JSON, YUM and BASH/KORN shells.

Candidate understands AWS and/or Azure infrastructure while accounting for hybrid/pure cloud concepts. Should understand and use continuous integration and delivery methodology using deployment tools such as Run Deck, Ansible, Bamboo, and Jenkins. Experience designing solutions that include security and risk recommendations holistically rather than as an afterthought. Ability to clearly communicate verbally and written, the pros and cons of a solution. Solutions should thoroughly consider economic and security constraints.

Additionally a successful candidate demonstrates expertise with at least one of the following and proven experience with at least three.

• Oracle database administration (database build, tuning, NLS parameters, security, patching, licensing)

• SQL Server best practices, administration and database use

• Cisco setup, configuration and troubleshooting, DNS, routers

• VMWare host and client setup, configurations, troubleshooting

• Load balancer and proxy setup and troubleshooting

• Server builds; Windows, Linux Red Hat

• MS Active Directory setup, patching

Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:
Education - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Experience - 5 years of experience typically gained through skills/knowledge/abilities in Full-time experience and demonstrated maturity in systems engineering (designing, implementing and supporting system and infrastructure services), with exposure to the complete systems development lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation, support and service level measurement)

Highly Preferred Qualifications:
Education - Master's Degree or equivalent
Experience with Git version control / Git workflows

Full stack development experience

Proficiency with scriptinglanguages (shell, Python, Groovy, etc.) and system programming in Linux and OSX

Experience working within infrastructure as code environments

Experience working withagile teams utilizing scrum or kanban

Experience with CICD tools and understanding of basic CICD principals

Ability to work under limited direction and handle multiple assignments simultaneously required
Should be a leader that can facilitate and build team consensus and interact with both the leadership and the implementation teams

Should be highly motivated with good communication skills, also have strong analytic and debugging skills

Understanding of robust software development processes and software configuration management policies
Experience with containers (Docker, Openshift, Kubernetes)

Experience with cloud based environments (AWS, OpenStack, Rackspace, Azure)

Experience with the Atlassian suite of products such as Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket

Basic understanding of Cisco Networking/Server Architecture (Windows Server and RedHat Linux)/DB (Oracle,SQL)

Develop quick Proof of Concepts to materialize innovative technical ideas
