You’re a data wrangler. You’re an SQL expert. You’re an experienced database administrator, dedicated to performance optimization and data security – and you’re looking to take on new and exciting challenges in a senior role at a growing, dynamic company.

As USA Truck’s Senior Database Administrator, you’ll oversee all administration of in-house and cloud-based databases to maximize performance and ensure data security. You’ll achieve excellence by optimizing efficiency. You’ll use innovative solutions to resolve complex performance issues and be the subject-matter expert for all things SQL.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Monitor database performance
  • Properly track and report on all work order, request, and project activity
  • Install, upgrade, and maintain database software
  • Provide support to the development and technical staff
  • Deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience

Preferred Skills:

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014
  • Expert knowledge of SQL query language and best practices for its usage
  • Knowledge of performance and tuning of database software
  • Source control systems, such as Team Foundation Server

Position Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters in a Computer Information Systems field of study from an accredited college or university, or 8 years equivalent work experience in a database administrator role.

Preferred Skills

  • All versions of Microsoft SQL Server 2005-2017
  • Expert knowledge of SQL query language and best practices for its usage
  • Knowledge of performance and tuning of database software and queries
  • Source control systems, such as Team Foundation Server
  • Working for a public company with established change management processes and audit controls.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience
  • Ability to work in a team environment to continuously improve results
  • Ability to promote a culture of trust and safety

Working conditions

This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required to:

  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently operate a computer for extended periods of time and regularly operate other office productivity machines.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend stairs and move up to 20 pounds of office objects.
  • Frequently communicate with peers, supervisors, third parties, and other employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions.
  • Occasionally attend meetings in buildings outside corporate office and at off-site locations with various internal conditions, and requiring travel in various external conditions.
  • Travel domestically as necessary.
