  • Create, maintain, and administer MySQL databases in a highly available 24/7 cloud environment
  • Create tooling to automate installation and patching of MySQL instances for development, testing, and production
  • Ensure databases are highly secure, available, and recoverable
  • Proactively monitor and tune databases for maximum performance
  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade database software
  • Create documentation around impact analysis of changes
  • Create performance indicators to locate and correct problems
  • Handle seamless failover and recovery
  • Manage monitoring and alerting for performance and uptime
  • Provide database technical support for application development teams
  • Oversee upgrades to application databases for new releases


  • 5 years of experience in MySQL database administration
  • Advanced MySQL replication knowledge
  • Ability to work in a DevOps mode
  • Ability to deploy databases as a container
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
  • Ability to handle multiple read instances
  • Strong performance tuning skills in a large database environment
  • Ability to run trace reports and analyze results, then recommend options for problem resolution
  • Proficient with Transact-SQL (T-SQL)
  • Expertise in running and administrating databases in a cloud environment
  • Storage and capacity planning
  • Bachelor’s in computer science or related field


  • Understanding of cloud computing platforms such as AWS and Azure
  • Working knowledge of Terraform
  • Working experience with SQL Azure as a service
  • Familiarity with Route 53
  • Experience with Puppet and Chef
  • Experience with aurora deployments
  • Working experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
  • Knowledge of Oracle and PostgreSQL
  • Ability to understand application functionality and design schemas
  • 2-3 years of working experience with SQL Server, MongoDB, Oracle, or PostgreSQL RDBMS
  • Academic training in GIS and/or knowledge of GIS/Esri software
