Responsibilities

The Position

The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems ensuring the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This role will report directly to the Manager, Infrastructure Database and requires a service-oriented mindset with a high sense of ownership. Travel up to 25% maybe be required based on project needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
  • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
  • Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
  • Resolve issues in alignment with the SLAs while establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests
  • Initiate changes on production systems and proactively escalate issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems

Qualifications

Desired Skills

  • Experience in setting up SQL Server Log Shipping, Replication, and Mirroring
  • Working knowledge in T-SQL, BCP, DTS, and SSIS development and Windows Server 2012 or later editions
  • Oracle experience with 11g, 12c RAC in at least 2 node environment on Linux/AIX
  • Experience in Grid technologies, Data Guard RMAN for backup and recovery and OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) for monitoring and performance tuning
  • Expert in utilizing various high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server
  • In depth knowledge in performance tuning along with a basic understanding of how to read execution plans

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent work experience
  • Industry specific training or designation a plus
  • 8+ years’ of overall IT experience with 5+ years’ on SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 and 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, and 2016
  • 3+ years’ of working experience with Microsoft Azure SQL Databases, Azure IaaS
