Gryphon Technologies has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Data Scientist with experience in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. This will involve interpreting and analyzing operations data using exploratory and statistical data techniques and develop, implement new data systems and other strategies that optimize efficiency along with data quality. The rep will work on a small team supporting the execution of existing programs as well as the ideation, design and source selection for new programs. Candidates will be required to work closely with PMs as well as other technical support staff.
• Navy operational, maintenance, and modernization data analysis (~30% of monthly time).
o Review and analyze available Navy data to determine how it can be best used to support advanced decision-making and further analysis.
o Recommend changes to data structures, storage, keys, data conventions, and other elements to enable the Navy to more effectively utilize the data they collect.
o Analyze disparate data sources and identify keys to aid with the integration across data.
o Develop mechanisms to align the data between data sources and eliminate data alignment errors.
o Develop Navy data policy recommendations to assist with future data source development and collection.
• Machine learning implementation (~30% of monthly time).
o Develop machine learning approaches to assist with the use of Navy data to solve operational, maintenance, budgetary, and administrative challenges.
o These algorithms may entail using a wide variety of data including numeric, image, video, audio, and unstructured text.
o The designed algorithms will be trained to solve key challenges faced by Navy leadership and operational commanders.
o Document the operation of the algorithms designed and write technical papers and presentations to explain the approach to Navy customers and other stakeholders.
• Visualization design and implementation (~20% of monthly time).
o Design and develop information visualization of Navy operational, maintenance, budgetary, and administrative data to foster better and deeper understanding of complex issues and assist decision makers.
o Present these visualizations to Navy customers or other stakeholders.
• Other duties (~20% of monthly time).
o Develop technical papers and present them at relevant conferences to increase the visibility of Gryphon’s presence within data analytics and machine learning.
o Develop technical content to support the submission of proposals.
o Develop machine learning, data analysis, and visualization tools to assist with the oversight and execution of internal Gryphon processes.
o Support business development efforts and act as a technical subject matter expert in meetings with potential customers.
Minimum Skill Qualifications
• Master's Degree Required, Ph.D. Preferred
• Technical leader and innovator with strong track record of program management excellence in data analysis, machine learning, systems engineering; policy definition and execution; strategic planning; and complex configuration management.
• Strong leader and team-builder with outstanding communication skills and meaningful experience with systems engineering, information system architectures, policymaking, and program management. Proven experience developing, building, and maintaining a business unit.
One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team. A Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one will be required. U.S. Citizenship required.
