Responsibilities:

  • Agile team member empowered to change how we use data to service our Institutional customers, drive operational efficiency, reduce risk, and make data driven decisions
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner and business leaders to develop the Institutional data strategy and roadmap and drive priority conversations
  • Work with our SMEs to understand our five business lines, identify data needs, and document value in making information accessible
  • Analyze business/data workflows to identify problems and opportunities that can be address with data
  • Make recommendations about features to the Product Owner
  • Create Agile epics or features, epics, and stories so the team can understand the business’ data needs and deliver iteratively
  • Works with Product Owner and Scrum Master during Agile Backlog Refinement meeting and backlog to ensure the team has 2-3 months of executable stories
  • Create and maintain the data dictionary and ensure our data can be used by other stakeholders
  • Conduct effective meetings and foster technology dialog with our team and business users
  • Learn what other team members are doing to help complete Sprint commitments
  • Active learner constantly learning new skills and tools to increase the team’s productivity
  • Probes and looks past symptoms to determine the underlying causes of problems and issues
  • Takes ownership of problems and stays on top of them until resolved
  • Encourages others to set challenging goals and high standards of performance
  • Fosters a sense of energy, ownership and commitment to work
  • Creates an environment in which performance excellence is rewarded

Basic Qualifications:

  • Has a least 8 years of experience as a business analyst or similar role with a focus on data
  • Has a significant technical, insurance or financial industry background
  • Demonstrated ability to confidently offer a new and potentially challenging idea to foster conversation and critical thinking
  • Proven ability to successfully deliver difficult and/or complex messages and help others understand multiple points of view
  • Facilitate and drive requirements/use cases gathering sessions
  • Demonstrated ability to decompose high-level business and user requirements into well-written user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Document technical requirements and business/technical process flows
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience as a business analyst or similar role with a focus on data preferred
  • Experience with Jira Software to help the Scrum Master plan and organize tasks, workflows, and reports for the Agile Team members
  • Agile/SCRUM experience specifically in story and acceptance criteria development strongly preferred
  • Experience with database technologies such as Vertica preferred
  • Experience with any programming language or database technology
