General Purpose:

Stout seeks a full-time Senior Data Analyst to join our dynamic, growing Legal Management Consulting team. Our team assists corporate legal departments and law firms manage their businesses more effectively. We work with legal organizations, IT, business partners, and vendors to contain risk and cost through operational improvement, efficient data management, and technology usage. This role's primary focus is data analysis and migration involved in our legal technology implementation work, with the opportunity to work on additional project types outlined above. This role will be leading efforts to extract and normalize data from legacy legal systems in order to load to next generation technology. This will involve working with clients to define and understand business and migration requirements, mapping those requirements and associated data to workflow capabilities within the underlying systems, and learning the nuances of each client's unique workflows in order to appropriately move critical legal data from one system to another. A secondary focus of this role is supporting project teams with analyzing client data, developing recommendations, and creating client reports.

The ideal candidate is a proven, self-sufficient resource with strong technical, business, and project management skills. Resources in this role provide direction on project approach, business requirements, development and enhancements of data migration scripts, and drive day-to-day project execution.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gather and document business and migration requirements for legal technology projects
  • Develop, test, and refine complex SQL queries to extract data from various legal systems
  • Analyze large volumes of structured data, identify data anomalies, and implement data cleansing approaches for ingestion into new systems
  • Provide analytical insight into field mapping between systems
  • Work with software vendor and client to prepare for and execute on migration test runs prior to final cutover activities
  • Support testing and validation including test script development, quality control testing, training client resources for user acceptance testing, and error resolution
  • Create quality control documentation describing the migration process, expected counts, and scenarios for clients to consider when reviewing data
  • Maintain detailed project documentation including conversion plans, design document, test plans, error logs and overall project workplans

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced SQL, Oracle database, and Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Experience migrating client data from legacy systems
  • Experience in creating and formatting data load files
  • Experience using Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau and Business Objects
  • Knowledge of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes
  • Experience creating specifications and documentation for data workflows and tools
  • Proficient in identification of business and migration requirements, process and data mapping, data reporting, and data visualization
  • Advanced problem solving, analytical, numerical, diagnostic, and research skills
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Maintains high standards for work product with keen attention to detail
  • Confidence and professionalism during client interactions
  • Excels in a cooperative team environment
  • Ability to work with changing client deadlines
  • Knowledge of legal department and litigation management processes is a plus
  • Knowledge of eDiscovery and contract management technologies is a plus
  • Familiarity with corporate IT project management methodology frameworks is a plus

Education and/or Training:

  • 4-year undergraduate degree necessary with a concentration in management information systems, information technology, or computer science
  • 2-5 years of relevant data management and/or data migration experience
