The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will provide direct cybersecurity support to the NNSA Office of Defense Programs (NA-10), integrated

with various NA-10 offices. The primary function is to assist NA-10 with understanding and planning for the future cybersecurity

environment and emerging threats, and ensuring systems are designed with appropriate cybersecurity controls to address the current and future environments and threats. This includes envisioning the future state, the various IP and non-IP based cyber threats and the

networks within which the various weapons programs execute their mission.

This integrated role requires day-to-day work with colleagues in NA-10 and across NNSA's lab complex, understanding their mission and the dynamics of policies, people, products, threats and technologies that impact execution of that mission. This positions requires an understanding of supply chain risk and threats, and the breadth of threat vectors and attack surfaces.

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will provide system and process analysis, analytic products, implementation and risk management plans, and recommendations to NA-10 personnel. This NA-10 support also requires continual reach back to NA-IM (OCIO) to keep the NNSA CIO informed on NA-10 cybersecurity progress, enabling alignment between the two organizations. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will also work closely with cybersecurity architects, strategic planners, managers and technical leaders as well as weapons system experts (design, maintenance, storage, etc) involved in the end-to-end lifecycle of the systems under the purview of NA-10.


Experience/Skills

  • Be a leader in the field of cybersecurity; must be able to write clearly and succinctly, and speak/present to a breadth of audiences including senior government executives.
  • Be an innovator with the ability to envision alternative courses of action, explain the relevant threats, technologies and controls to address those and help develop plans for implementation including costs, risks, performance outcomes, schedules, etc.
  • This position requires a CISSP certification (or similar), and the proven ability to envision and articulate aspects of threat, controls, risk, risk management, and risk mitigation strategies in combatting current and future cybersecurity threats.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Math, Science, Information Technology or related engineering discipline.
  • Bachelor's Degree can be substituted by 4 years of work experience in computer and information technology related field.
  • Active DOE Q or other agency TS Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ten (10) plus years of relevant experience
  • CISSP or similar certification

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in technical Information Security domain
  • Two (2) years of experience with DOE/NNSA
