Position Overview:

Primary pre-sales technical support function for the customer facing sales executives in conceptualizing, qualifying and positioning complex/integrated technology solutions. In support of the Sales team, the Senior CSES’ mandate is to provide best-in-class consulting-level expertise in the areas of strategy development, solution creation, financial assessment and proposal development.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with sales executives to understand the customer business, application requirements, networkdrivers and match the appropriate TELUS product or service to this requirement
  • Provide quality written input to RFP, Account and TAS plans and otherSales documents
  • Be the architect and translator of complex technical information into compelling and understandable business propositions for the client
  • Provide technical leadership for a specific industry segment and driving a common technical strategy, coaching the team on technical solutions, driving/support complex/integrated opportunities, looking for learnings to implement best practices and drive thought leadership within the community
  • Conduct presentations to both customer and internal audiences, communicating the functionality and benefits for specific TELUS products, services and integrated solutions
  • Be the quarterback for working with and knowing when to deploy technical subject matter experts from change management and networkengineering in the development of solution proposals
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the industry by attending shows, conferences and engaging in forum discussions
  • Analyze TELUS products and services in comparison to those offered by the competition

Qualifications

 

Required Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated design expertise shall include Wide Area Networks, Local Area Networks, Internet, IP Applications, Hosting and Enterprise IT Application services in order to provide complete technical consulting
  • In depth knowledge of Data networking products, Complex data solutions, and network design including: routing, switching, server, security, hosting, VOIP, Voice networks and associated premise hardware
  • PC skills including Word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet
  • Ability to translate and communicate business opportunities into technical requirements
  • Strong knowledge of the Customer Premise Solutions (CPS) - Nortel, Cisco, and Avaya
  • Detailed knowledge of IP Web technologies, particularly security, firewalls, VPN's, web commerce, web architecture
  • Solid technical foundation (LAN, WAN & IP)
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills using tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations
  • Superior ability to use Microsoft Visio to create detailed network drawings

  • Ability to uncover the key issues from a business perspective associated a technical network solution
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to discuss customer solution benefits with financial acumen skills
  • Demonstrated competency to develop competitive value-add solutions through creativity and innovation
  • Ability to translate and communicate business opportunities into technical requirements

Required Professional Designation/Certification:

  • One or more industry recognized certifications (e.g CCNA, CCDA, CISSP, MCSE etc.) will be definite assets
  • Sales training/account planning is a definite asset
  • University degree

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of related work experience in telecommunications, wireless and/or IT industry
  • 7+ years in a pre-sales engineering/customer-facing technical role would be an asset
  • 7+ years "IT/Telecommunications design" experience dealing with WAN, LAN, Internet/IP, VoIP, and networking hardware would be an asset
  • Previous industry experience in solution development, pre-sales, consulting or customer-facing technical roles would be an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and understanding customer technical/business needs and translating them into viable integrated solutions
  • Partnership or consultative selling experience is an asset
  • Experience in one of the following verticals: government, utilities, transportation, insurance or professional services.
