Every attorney on the Fastly legal team needs to understand Fastly’s business, products and what Fastly customers care about. Effective legal services cannot be rendered when isolated from the realities of how and what we sell. Every attorney’s job description includes advising on revenue-generating contracts along with deep engagement in other areas of the business.

We are looking to add a team member with the appropriate experience to assist with intellectual property portfolio management, corporate compliance, and dispute prevention. The ideal candidate will have had litigation and intellectual property portfolio management experience supporting fast growing technology companies at both a law firm and in-house. This is a unique opportunity to have big impact at an awesome company.

  • Drafting, negotiating and developing scalable processes for customer, vendor and partner contracts globally
  • Managing our patent and trademark portfolios
  • Corporate compliance policy development and training
  • Dispute resolution across subject matters
  • Records management
  • Ad-hoc projects as may come up from time to time
  • Managing outside counsel for quality and expense

REQUIREMENTS

  • BA and JD from respected institutions, member of the California bar in good standing
  • Patent Bar membership is not required, but a plus
  • At least ten years of legal experience with five to seven years of law firm litigation experience, and at least three years of in-house experience
  • Actual experience in the courtroom
  • Experience with, or a genuine willingness to learn, commercial contract negotiation and employment law
  • Ability to work independently and comfortable working with colleagues around the world
  • Finely developed business and legal judgment and risk-based assessment skills
  • Strong curiosity about how the internet really works
  • Strong “plain English” written and verbal communication skills, excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • A penchant for discretion
