Description
VertexOne is seeking a Business Consultant / Business Analyst who can take on primary duties for researching prospective products, product features, vendor partners, competitors, and market requirements. The consultant will define user stories & business requirements for existing and prospective VertexOne products. Also work with internal team members and external clients on analytics projects involving assessment of business processes, business strategy, and technology to determine client needs and improve the overall performance of each client.
This resource will manage the relationship with and delivery to a client including assistance with defining the initial engagement and ultimately managing the delivery of consultative analytics engagements from scope and budget. In addition, this resource will deliver at or above the client’s expectations. The candidate will have ongoing responsibility for improving the overall performance of each client.
Duties:
Conducts primary research on prospective VertexOne product offerings
Competitive Intelligence: Researches and analyzes competitive intelligence on current market offerings. Develop informed point of view on where competition is headed or will emerge (and why) and how to beat the competition
Market Intelligence: Lead market research and validation to inform product team strategy and define total addressable market for new product developments and enhancements
Subject Matter Expertise: Work collaboratively with marketing department as a subject matter expert on solutions
Evaluates product offerings from vendor partners and competitors for fit with VertexOne offerings
Business Cases: Create business cases and strategies for product capabilities required to meet solution needs. Gather and analyze data and prioritize market trends and direction
Act as representative of VertexOne Product team during client interactions and assure necessary data and statistical project requirements are met
Responsible for management of direct and indirect resources
Develop process and communication templates that can be leveraged by additional Consulting personnel over time
Responsible for supporting the training and development of resources in area of specialty; and mentoring, coordinating, planning, and providing direction for work group(s)
Assist in presenting Sales and Proposal Presentations to clients
Identify potential add on sales opportunities and seed offerings where appropriate and value add for the client
Lead internal team members, including analysts, statisticians and data modelers, and external clients in assessing client business processes, methods, systems and procedures and make recommendations for improvement
Develop and propose alternative operational approaches, and/or problem resolution to assist in improving overall client performance
Mitigate key client concerns through use of process skills, product and business knowledge and prowess in building client rapport
Manage project and executive level communications with client
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in economics, business or technology (Advanced degree is preferred)
5-8 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Understands the “big picture” and has demonstrated the ability to define, prioritize and lead program level activities
Understanding of utility industry, technology needs and challenges
Proven presentation skills directed to peers and executives
Track record of proposal creation/reviews; some experience with participating in the “sales pitch” (e.g., leads portion of proposal review with client, participated in orals)
Interest in and passion for new and emerging services
Demonstrated history of identifying and analyzing client business and technical needs
Experience in building and managing strong long-term relationships with business partners and clients.
Strong history of working with technical, statistical and business contacts - developing an understanding of how to effectively communicate both externally and internally
A true team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with executives both within VertexOne, its partners, and its clients
Track record of working collaboratively in a matrix organization
Comfortable in ambiguous situations
Excellent at multi-tasking
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent oral and written skills including skills in Microsoft Office tools
Willing to travel based on project needs
Experience with analytical approaches and delivery methods, is preferred
