Senior Construction Accountant

*Stellar record of 3-5years of construction accounting experience.

*Previous experience with financial and GL accounting, as well as cost accounting systems.

*Bachelor?s degree in accounting, finance, or business.

*CPA or MBA a plus.

As a Construction Accountant, you are responsible for the day-to-day construction accounting functions for a portfolio of properties undergoing renovations and restorations by the Cortland Improvements team. The level being hired for this role is dependent on experience and can range from Accountant I to Senior Accountant.

Responsibilities:

The Money Tracker:

Monitor job cost activity by overseeing cash management and reconciliation for the organization.

Review all general ledger accounts with a fine-toothed comb to keep track of all money coming in or out at any given time.

Keep a close eye on the accounting systems, identify areas of improvements, and suggest how processes could run more smoothly.

The Number Cruncher:

Pull from your accounting knowledge of AR, AP, bank reconciliations, cash management, and general ledger to assist with financial statement preparations and invoice payments.

Analyze and develop new metrics/reports, looking for trends and discrepancies.

Review operational and constructionbudgets and analyze variances against budget and prior months? costs.

The Progress Reporter:

Participate in full cycle of month and year-end close activities, including income statement reviews and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting.

Prepare journal entries and participate in the review of annual budgets.

Report your findings to senior associates so everyone can get a clear idea of future spending.

Job Requirements:

*Stellar record of 3-5years of construction accounting experience. *Previous experience with financial and GL accounting, as well as cost accounting systems.

*Bachelor?s degree in accounting, finance, or business.

*CPA or MBA a plus.

*High attention to detail with strong organization, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.

*Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse array of people.

*Collaborative team player with strong intellectual curiosity.

*Strong proficiency in MS Office programs.

*Timberline experiencepreferred.
