The Commodity Specialist manages portions of a $50MM annual portfolio. This position is responsible for locating and maintaining long term supplier relationships that provide competitive advantages such as the best sources for total costs, highest quality components and materials, and superior customer service. The Commodity Specialist will develop, write, negotiate and monitor the performance of suppliers against contractual standards and work with them to achieve continuous improvements in cost and performance. Surveys and co-certifies supplier manufacturing and merger/acquisition facilities with Quality and Corporate Engineering.Monitors supplier conformance to quality, capacity and cost commitments.Prepares, distributes and follows-up on improvement plans for low-performing suppliers. Responsible for the supplier selection process. Negotiates contracts and works with Legal to execute and administer contracts.
Required – BA/BS in Business, Logistics or Technology related discipline.Required – APICS or ISM certification.Required – Minimum 7 years progressive experience in highly transactional, supplier-facing environment.Required – Minimum of 2 years direct management of suppliers, inventories, scheduling and demand planning.Required – Experience with MRP.Strongly Preferred – Experience with SAP.Preferred – Experience with JIT and Kanban systems.Preferred – Medical device logistics and continuous improvement experience.
