We are seeking an experienced Commodity Manager to join a large, global chemical company in Chicago. Relocation assistance is available.

As a Commodity Manager you will establish and drive Strategic Sourcing of Direct Raw Material in alignment with business Leadership for your assigned commodity /category and/or region as per Annual Operating Plan and Strategic Plan. You will have responsibility for driving competitive commodity and category supply strategies to achieve lowest Total Cost for your commodities/categories, reduced Working capital via Negotiation planning and execution, High Growth Region Sourcing, Value Engineering and Sole/ Single Source elimination. You will manage Supplier Performance to support your commodity/category and/or region and ensure supply continuity. You will be managing several projects in dynamic environment. You will ensure compliance with the company's procurement policies and procedures, and Export /Import regulations.

Position Responsibilities:


• Manage Site Category and Commodity Strategies including spend analysis, Benchmarking, Cost, Market Analysis and Global Technology / Economic trends

• Manage Sourcing Strategy and Execution for assigned commodities, ~$100M spend, including negotiation of pricing, pay terms and company's terms and conditions

• Manage Supplier selection, RFQ and RFI process, Negotiation, Contracting and supplier performance processes

• Create a strong knowledge and intelligence base for the commodities, market dynamics and suppliers relevant to the business

• Ensure the administration, implementation, compliance, and enforcement of global commodity and contracting strategies

• Coach, train and mentor Strategic Buyers on Strategic Sourcing process and execution

Deliver Procurement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Develop, manage and execute project pipeline to deliver procurement KPIs including Productivity, and Working Capital

• Improve Working Capital thru Payment Terms extensions, Payment cycle optimization, Vendor Managed Inventories Inventory and Lead time reductions

Develop, manage, and execute a project pipeline for Value Engineering (VE), Single Source Elimination (SSE)

• Champion eAuction and consignment activities for accountable commodities

Business/Supplier Interface

• Ensure Relationship development and management with Business Stakeholders and Suppliers

• Participate in the business SIOP process for assigned commodities/materials

• Interface with the plants for assigned commodities/materials and projects

• Manage Supplier Performance (Quality, Delivery, Contractual Obligations) and contract administration


• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance or Business

• 5+ Years Strategic Sourcing Experience in Direct Raw Materials

• 2+ Years of Experience with SAP/ERP systems
