We are currently looking for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer within the Nuclear Power industry, to be based in the Parsippany, NJ area, to join the ENERCON Team.
In this role, your Key Responsibilities will be to:
Engineers will support the design and analysis of changes to existing power plants as well as new plant systems.
In support of engineering design and analysis projects for the power industry, engineers will perform work requiring the application of basic technical principles, theories, standards and concepts. This will include reading and understanding design drawings and technical specifications as necessary to support preparation of project deliverables, such as calculations, specifications, and engineering evaluations.
Engineers will also work with and assist more senior Engineers/Technical Specialists on a directed project by project basis.
Responsibilities include gaining familiarity with and application of industry codes and government regulations. This position requires the use of discipline specific computer analysis codes as well as standard office production software.
Perform reviews, assemble and prepare design modification packages
Develop specifications of structural components
Perform site walkdowns to identify design solutions and develop cost-effective problem resolutions
Perform static equivalent and dynamic analysis of structures for seismic loads.
As a qualified candidate, you will have the above experience and meet the below requirements:
B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
9+ years experience in nuclear engineering
PE License or Willingness to obtain PE
Prior experience in the design of pipe supports, structures, etc., at nuclear power plants.
Demonstrated proficiency in preparation of civil calculations.
Broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards pertaining to the power industry a plus.
Proficient in Word and Excel.
Proficient in at least one general purpose structural analysis computer code (e. g. STRUDL, STAAD, ANSYS)
Good writing, presentation and communication skills.
Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams.
Familiar with concrete and steel design codes and with working stress and ultimate strength design approaches
Required to travel between 15-25% of the time; duration of travel length may vary depending on project and client needs, ranging from a few weeks to several months at a time
Effective and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings; ENERCON and client specific background checks; and an annual motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company and client policies
