Fishbeck has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager to join the Infrastructure Division in our Grand Rapids office. Theposition will service water resources clients in a variety of project needs. The qualified candidate will be a licensed engineer and have a minimum of 10 yearsof professional experience working with communities from study phase through design and construction on a broad range of stormwater and floodplain projects. This opportunity is best suited for candidates who possess a strong technical background, a proven record of client interaction, and the ability to plan and manage project efforts as well as provide general water resources consulting services. The position also requires a person who is thorough, self-directed, and has sound interpersonal skills to build and maintain professional relationships at all organization levels.

Essential Functions

  • Actively engage with potential and existing clients.
  • Develop proposals, project plans, and schedules.
  • Manage the design, development, and implementation of projects.
  • Design stormwater/floodplain management, drainage, stream restoration, and floodplain management projects; handle construction contract administration; project management; and client contact.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations.
  • Lead and manage multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Assist in developing, training, and mentoring staff.
  • Identify and participate in professional organizations and networking activities.

Minimum Physical Requirements

Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. May perform duties in the field and will be required to access and maneuver around project sites. Capable of traveling to and from projects is required. Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.

Desired Education

Bachelor or Master degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (Michigan PE preferred).
  • 10+ years of stormwater/floodplain management.
  • Civil 3D and ArcGIS experience.
  • Hydrologic/hydraulic modeling experience in programs including HEC-RAS, EPA SWMM, WINTR-55.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Broad technical background in one or more of the following areas: stormwater management, floodplain management, Michigan Drain Code, asset management, program management, as well as familiarity with state EGLE permitting requirements and standards.
  • Experience leading and managing project teams.
