Overview / Responsibilities

Wood has a long tradition delivering Transmission and Design projects globally to a wide and established client base. Due to recent growth we are expanding our resources through the South East of America to provide enhanced local support to our customers.

Wood currently have an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer to be part of this developing team. Reporting to the Civil, Structural, and Architectural Department Manager, this position is located in our Orlando, FL office. Key Responsibilities

  • Providing civil engineering design and technical support for the construction and modification of electrical substations and distribution systems as well as industrialfacilities
  • Preparing proposals, study reports, engineering specifications, and contract documents
  • Leading and mentoring junior and intermediate staff
  • Reviewing project documents and drawings for technical quality, accuracy as well as compliance with client’s requirements
  • Managing multiple tasks in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Utilizing expertise of general civil designs and acting as a resource for industry codes, standards, and construction methods
  • Establishing good working relationships and communication with discipline leads, project managers and clients

Skills / Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with a Professional Engineering Designation or eligibility for registration
  • 7+ years of experience in projects of varying stages from conceptual to detailed design, civil experience in a utility environment is considered a strong asset
  • Experience in Small building and structures, Foundations, drainage, trench, fence, and earthwork design
  • Capable of developing creative yet practical concepts
  • Experience in writing technical reports
  • A willingness to travel to remote field locations on a short-term basis
