Burns & McDonnell has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Global Facilities - Commercial team. The ideal candidate will:

  • Develop and evaluate plans for major projects
  • May assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient or testing is advisable
  • May coordinate departmental or divisional project studies, reports or project design assignments
  • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members
  • Meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel.

Experience must include site planning, grading design, drainage design, erosion control & storm water pollution prevention design, utility design for large scale commercial development projects that may include a single build or multiple buildings.

The candidate should have a broad understanding of entitlement rights, traffic engineering, geotechnical engineering, and environmental regulations that would affect the development of real property for commercial usage.

The candidate should have a proven history of adhering to clients’ and multiple local jurisdictions’ design standards and when they differ successfully advocating on behalf of the client.
The position will require working on an interdisciplinary project team comprised of real estate professionals,attorneys, planners, landscape architects, MEP systems engineers, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, architects, and contractors under aggressive completion schedules.


Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from accredited program. Minimum 7 years related experience (completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience). Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Previous consulting experience preferred. The candidate should be a licensed professional engineer with the ability to be licensed in other states where projects may be performed. Industry certification such as LEED-AP BD+C or Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control, CPSEC, are a plus.
