Stantec’s New England Water practice is seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil or Environmental Engineer with extensive combined sewer overflow, wet weather and wastewater treatment plant engineering experience. This is an opportunity to work on some of the nation’s largest and most innovative infrastructure projects. The position will be based in our Massachusetts or Rhode Island offices.
This consulting engineering role will require application of technical skills, project delivery, and leadership to an array of water quality improvement projects involving combined sewage overflow (CSO), wet-weather flow and wastewater treatment. The selected candidate will need to be affable, self-directed, capable of leading and supervising complex teams, eager to mentor staff and engage with clients, and should demonstrate a passion for involvement in water quality.
Your Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage CSO, Wet Weather and Stormwater Infrastructure projects and lead multi-disciplinary teams through planning, design and construction.
Perform detailed planning of projects, oversight of execution of that plan and efficient project close-out.
Perform a client service management role to ensure ongoing quality of service.
Interact with clients, local and remote Stantec staff, permitting agencies and other consulting firms in the execution of engineering projects.
Provide technical leadership on projects including wet weather flow, hydraulics and hydrology, modeling and flow reduction.
Accountable for assuring that projects are staffed with the appropriate resources and skills sets to achieve project objectives.
Lead alternatives development and evaluation and preparation of engineering reports.
Supervise performance of engineering calculations and detailed design drawings and specifications.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior-level staff.
Coordinate with Group Leader and technical staff on issues related to pursuit selection, project staffing and review of technical work.
Participate in regional and national pursuits and work on projects outside the region.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Extensive experience with combined sewer overflow, wet and dry weather flow, hydrology, stormwater management, water quality issues, and ecology.
Experience with Program Management, Project Management and Project Technical Leadership.
Experience with Client Service and Client Account management.
Experience supporting or leading business development campaigns and strategic pursuits.
Ability to lead or participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner, both in writing and in person, with clients, employees and visitors.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering or related field. Licensed P.E. or the ability to obtain within 12 months. Minimum of 15 years of experience.
Typical office environment working with computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
