General Purpose:

WEX Inc. is rebuilding and globalizing its Sourcing, Vendor Management, and Procurement functions. We desire candidates with a proven track record to help us build a global and impactful organization. Candidate is expected to perform the dual role of vendor management and procurement for non I.T. functions, while also assisting the Procurement team in enhancing their tools, systems and processes.

The Non I.T. Category Manager is responsible for executing sourcing strategies to support initiatives and projects for a broad spectrum of Non I.T. spend categories, including but not limited to professional services, Marketing, Finance, T&E, HR, consulting services, etc. Primary responsibilities include: the execution of competitive market analysis; the development of category management plans; supplier identification, consolidation, and relationship management; contract and price negotiations, procurement system and process enhancements, and the day to day management of assigned Non I.T. contracts to drive savings, improve business processes and comply with all corporate and legal policies.

The Global Category Manager will have the opportunity to expand the function globally, increase spend under management and drive adoption of all new tools and processes in a $1B, fast growing Financial Technology company.

A successful candidate will be a disciplined risk taker that proactively enables WEX’s growth and identifies and implements best-in-class process improvements and systems geared towards improving transparency and driving cost saving opportunities and improved vendor performance.

The Candidate must:

- Drive change and scale leveraging best-in-class training, processes, and systems.

- Makes development of the organization and employee engagement a top priority

Candidate is expected to complete the following goals within the first 6-18 months.

1. Be a key thought leader for driving growth and cost reduction and improved vendor performance.

o Influencing decision making, identifying and communicating priorities, and executing on key growth and cost reduction initiatives.

2. Directly enable WEX’s growth strategy with leading sourcing strategies.

o Develop and execute global sourcing strategy for key spend categories in collaboration with Functional owners within 6 mos.

o Build relationships and align with Key Stakeholders on current and future strategic initiatives that will require procurements support. Develop a regular meeting cadence as needed to support.

3. Develop key sourcing and procurement processes to drive spend under management and effective business partnerships.

o Increase spend under management to include all WEX entities and 85% of the global spend.

o Improve Process Automation and drive Procurement System enhancements.

4. Deliver Growth by sourcing best in class partners/vendor and cost reduction through professional but aggressive negotiation and contracting.

o Candidate will be directly responsible for vendor relationships that are critical to WEX growth strategy.

o Candidate will be expected to deliver 5-7% annualized cost reduction



    • o Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
    • o Minimum 5-7 years Procurement experience, preferably in either a Category Management and/or Strategic Sourcing role
  • ? Optional/Desirables:
    • o Relevant certifications (e.g. CPSM, APICS)
    • o Training or experience with LEAN, PMP, and/or Six Sigma practices
    • o Experience working in the Financial Technology Sector
    • o Experience supporting other Indirect Procurement areas (HR, Legal, Facilities, Marketing, Sales, etc).
    • o Ability to configure and enhance contract life-cycle management tools
